Since 2006, Trimaine has enjoyed a career in higher education, working as a staff-student professional. Serving the LA and Pasadena community as the Retention Coordinator for the UCLA VIPS Program, Trimaine provides critical support in coordinating all diversity events and ongoing activities related to the recruitment and enrollment of both transfer and first-year perspective, diverse students.
Trimaine has a rich history working with Black and underserved student populations. While at San Diego State University, Trimaine advised the Student African American Brotherhood (SAAB), Afrikan Student Union (ASU), and consulted as an education specialist for holistic identity development for Black Student-Athletes.
While working at CSU Northridge, Trimaine served on the committee which launched CSUN’s Black Male Initiative (BMI), which currently ranks as one of the nation’s best support programs for African American students. For his research on issues related to Black academic achievement, Trimaine has been featured on panels and has presented at conferences including the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education (NCORE), College Board, Cal-SOAP, Urban League, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Throughout his career, Trimaine has been a key contributor to the academic success of Black students. Since his years as an undergraduate, Trimaine has advocated for empowerment, inclusion, and social justice for Black students and other populations of color.
